i think he’s not carrying a gun because at the end of madness combat 6 they show him with a gun but they don’t show what happens inbetween the time the battle starts and the time they show him lying face-down in a bloody heap for the beginning of madness combat 7. most likely he ended up losing his gun somewhere in that time frame and if he’d actually said what was said in this comic then that would also be how he ended up falling in the pit, too.
